MEMC reinvents itself into SunEdison
SunEdison, Inc. obtained overwhelming stockholder approval at its Annual Meeting of Stockholders, in San Francisco, California to change the company's name to SunEdison, Inc.
MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc., is now known as SunEdison.
On June 3rd, 2013, the company's stock symbol on the New York Stock Exchange will change from "WFR" to "SUNE" to reflect the new corporate name.
"Changing our name to SunEdison is a major milestone as this represents another step toward creating an elite, global brand that builds on a more than 50 year tradition of innovation and growth that began under the MEMC name," says Ahmad Chatila, President and CEO.
He adds, "We strongly believe the SunEdison name provides us with broader marketplace appeal and scalability that will help us grow the company and build long-term brand equity as we look toward the next chapter."

SunEdison will continue to maintain its corporate headquarters in St. Peters, Missouri.
SunEdison, formerly MEMC Electronic Materials, specialises in semiconductor and solar technology. SunEdison's semiconductor business has been a pioneer in the design and development of silicon wafer technologies for over 50 years.
