Particle Measuring Systems extends technology portfolio
With the acquisition of Naneum, PMS will create new platforms to support the semiconductor industry well into the future
Particle Measuring Systems (PMS), an expert in contamination monitoring equipment, systems and software has acquired Naneum Ltd.
This latest acquisition strengthens PMS' experience related to key emerging technologies, supporting the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS).
Addition of Naneum's technologies to its extensive experience in micro-contamination monitoring promises major advancements in particle detection. One of the chief challenges facing semiconductor companies today is sub-100 nm particle detection in process environments.
In the past year, Naneum was recognised by the Institute of Physics (London, UK) for its advancements in nanoparticle detection. This technology enables instruments with excellent sensitivity and production-compatible maintenance intervals, while eliminating the use of undesirable chemicals. In combination, this technology and PMS' industry expertise provide a production-worthy monitoring solution with low cost of ownership.
Commenting on the acquisition, John Mitchell, president of Particle Measuring Systems, says, "Naneum allows us to further expand our comprehensive product offering to the microelectronics industry. The expertise of the Naneum organisation enhances our ability to continue to bring innovative solutions to the global market."
Particle Measuring Systems specialises in environmental monitoring technology, with over 40 years of experience providing solutions for particle and microbial monitoring for companies manufacturing in clean environments.
As the inventors of laser-based particle counters, PMS provides devices for particle monitors in pharmaceutical, nanomaterial, aerospace, integrated circuit and electronics manufacturing.
