Toshiba starts mass shipments of 1080p CMOS image sensor
Toshiba Corporation will start mass production shipments of the T4K71, a 1.12µm back side illumination pixel size, 1080p CMOS image sensor with colour noise reduction, on December 2nd, 2013.
The product's high frame rate of 60fps at 1080p full resolution of enables smooth and seamless capture of full high-definition video image, allowing use in front cameras of mobile devices for video applications, such as video chat and video mail.
The sensor integrates a Colour Noise Reduction circuit and realises a signal-to-noise ratio equal to Toshiba's equivalent products fabricated with 1.4µm pixel process.
The device which has an aspect ratio of 16:9 and an optical format of 1/7.3 inch is suited for use in cameras for cell phones, smartphones, tablet PCs and PCs.
