Presto builds new test production centre
The centre will offer integrated semiconductor engineering, including qualification, failure analysis, production and turnkey services
Presto Engineering, Inc., has announced that its Caen Normandy Hub has been expanded into a full industrialisation and test production centre.
The facility will primarily serve the communications, automotive, industrial and consumer markets.
"Presto's production centre will serve the global semiconductor industry - as a European-based production option that offers an alternative to the cost and time involved in moving new products to Asia for ramp of low- to mid-level volume," says Philippe Laban, Presto Engineering's vice president and general manager, Europe.
"Production options in Europe have decreased in recent years, and as a result, we see a real opportunity as a new, integrated, local solution for European customers. Our expertise in RF, millimetric wave, and mixed-signal technologies directly addresses these key areas of high demand in Europe," adds Laban.
Presto Engineering's Caen-based production centre features a new Fusion MX RF tester and a new mixed-signal tester, the Diamond Series D10 (both from LTX-Credence), along with an already-existing MicroFLEX RF system from Teradyne. The new test centre also offers automatic handlers and probers, as well as test development expertise.
Laban explains, "Our ability to offer both test development and production enables us to be a responsive and accountable partner with our customers, and provide the efficiency they need to ramp their products into production as quickly as possible and at the expected quality level."
Presto Engineering provides semiconductor product engineering solutions to IDM, fabless and electronics companies, contributing to improving ramp time, margins and quality of new products.
The firm specialises in the development of test solutions for component characterisation and production.
