InvenSense introduces top port MEMS analogue microphone

News
The device has 65 dB SNR with low-power mode for "˜AlwaysOn' applications
InvenSense has launched the ICS-40161 top port MEMS microphone targeted towards mobile electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, remote controls, smart TVs, Bluetooth headsets, and digital still/video cameras.

The company claims the ICS-40161 microphone provides the same performance as the ICS-40160 bottom port microphone.

Contextual awareness is driving the need for low-power "˜AlwaysOn' sensors.

"InvenSense has achieved another industry first, delivering a top port microphone matching the performance of its bottom port counterpart," says Ali Foughi, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at InvenSense. "InvenSense continues to lead the industry in bringing innovative human-like interface, including both motion and audio, to consumer electronics."

Sampling of the InvenSense ICS-40161 will commence in Q2 of 2014.
