Ichor Systems triples semi manufacturing capacity

News

East Kilbride in Scotland will benefit with new jobs thanks to Regional Selective Assistance funding

Ichor Systems, which has expertise in semiconductor equipment, is set to create new jobs and triple its capacity with a move to new 36,600 square foot premises.

The new plant is based at Hamilton International Park near Blantyre, Scotland.

The company, formerly known as Semi Scenic, was founded in East Kilbride in 2003 and was acquired by California-headquartered Ichor Systems Inc., in April 2012.

Don Nicolson, MD of Ichor Systems Limited, says, "We have recently secured a global product licence from industry giant Lam Research which means that in future we will sell specific licensed legacy products directly to end-users throughout the world to develop our Scotland-based operation in the face of tough competition from other locations. As a result, and with steadily increasing worldwide demand across the industry for our services, we are forecasting an 80 percent growth in turnover this year."

"We have outgrown our existing 12,000 square foot plant in East Kilbride's Scottish Enterprise Technology Park where we have been since 2005.We are obliged to move if we are to fulfil our ambition and with the support of both our parent company and SDI we have been enabled to do just that."

"Our expansion is a reflection also of the ability and dedication of our staff which, coupled with a unique business model, has consistently delivered cost-effective solutions to our customers. Our excellent positioning in the market gives us cause to be confident about the future,", adds Nicolson.

The new facility, which will require an extensive fit-out program due to the high-specification cleanroom requirements of the semiconductor industry, will deliver up to ten new jobs as well as securing the future of Ichor's existing staff. Nicolson expects the new site to be ready for production before the end of the year.

Eleanor Taylor, Business Support Director, Scottish Enterprise says, "We have been working with Ichor Systems for a number of years and are pleased to have been able to support them with a Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) grant of £175,000 to help with this expansion into new facilities. Ichor is a successful player in the global market and the move to these new premises will enhance its delivery of real value-added products and services to its customers throughout the world and exploit further growth opportunities"

Ichor Systems Limited is an OEM licensed supplier of remanufactured equipment & services to the Global Semiconductor Industry.
