APM's MEMs pressure sensor element shipments surpass 130 million units

News

Asia Pacific Microsystems, Inc. (APM) has announced that its shipment of MEMS pressure sensor elements has reached over 120 million units in early 2014. This mark reflects both a strong demand from a broad range of customers for MEMS pressure sensor chips, as well as the dedication of the company as a MEMS pure-play foundry. APM continuously provides MEMS foundry services for its well-developed piezoresistive sensor elements and membrane control modules, both of which are key components of the pressure sensor.

APM's broad range of pressure sensor product families are constantly expanding. The current customers for MEMS pressure sensors range from the tier 1 suppliers in the automotive industry to suppliers in the biomedical sector.

"We have seen a consistent growth in pressure sensors over the years", commented Dr. YH Tsai, President of APM. "The company is really proud of working with our various customers to pass their qualification requirement and being able to meet our customer quantity need in a short period of time. This record mark in pressure sensor elements is a major recognition of APM's advanced micromachining technology and superior quality control and also reflects a track record of our dedication as a pure-play MEMS foundry in the world."

APM currently serves as a key foundry partner in MEMS production for many customers in their MEMS product development. The collaboration ranges from the customer's prototype development to being an alternative reliable supplier for customer's well-developed MEMS elements. Over the years, the technical discipline at APM can truly benefit customers with unique quantity needs or a shortened time-to-market and still maintain an efficient launch cost, high quality, and high yield in its MEMS products.
