ASM Assembly Systems Lands Global Technology Award

At the recent SMTA International event in Rosemont, IL, ASM Assembly System's DEK Gemini dual-lane print platform was honoured with a Global Technology Award in recognition of the new printing technology's innovative approach to high-volume manufacturing requirements.

Introduced in April of this year, DEK Gemini is a dual-lane printing system that allows for modular processing on-demand, enabling assembly specialists to effectively double productivity levels while maintaining the highest standards for quality, accuracy and yield. Designed with ease-of-use in mind, DEK Gemini leverages the familiar graphical user interface of the market-leading DEK Horizon iX platform, ensuring that current DEK printing system customers can immediately tap into the power of the DEK Gemini as no re-learning is required.  Quick and easy access from the front of the machine also adds to the system's user-friendliness, while limiting downtime for required maintenance.

ASM's Printing Solutions Division Americas General Manager, Brian Smith, accepted the Global Technology Award on behalf of the DEK team.  "Though dual-lane printing platforms have been available for some time, the need for a more capable system to support the growing mobile manufacturing requirements of dual lane pick and place machines has become more pronounced," he says.  "DEK Gemini offers world-class performance in an industry-standard frame with a 508 mm x 508 mm print area, yet maintains a highly compact footprint.  We are grateful that the Global Technology Award judging panel recognised this and other competitive distinctions."

In addition to its large print area and familiar user interface, DEK Gemini can produce as many as 300 boards per hour (bph) at a market-leading process alignment capability of +/-15 µm at 2.0 Cpk.  The dual-lane system also incorporates independent platform control functionality, allowing one printer to continue running while operators manage product changeover or NPI analysis on the other.

"DEK Gemini is the dual-lane printing solution high-volume manufacturer's need "“ it comes fully loaded with capability as standard in an incredibly small footprint," says Smith in summary.  "ASM thanks Global SMT and Packaging magazine for sponsoring this important industry award program and raising the awareness of leading-edge products like DEK Gemini."
