Phononic Implements Camstar Semiconductor Suite To Enable Growth

News

Camstar, a Siemens Business, has announced  that Phononic, a company reinventing cooling and heating, successfully implemented Semiconductor SuiteTM, Camstar's Enterprise Manufacturing Execution System (MES) designed specifically for the entire semiconductor manufacturing operation. Phononic is standardizing on Camstar's MES to ensure top product quality, flexibility and efficiency while rapidly ramping production. Camstar's out-of-the-box MES capabilities replace manual processes with real-time visibility and control of work-in-process (WIP), dispatching, tools and equipment, processes, yield, quality parameters and statistical process control (SPC).

"Phononic's solid state cooling and heating technology provides unprecedented solutions to thermal management challenges," said Gary Barbari, Vice President of Manufacturing for Phononic. "We continually innovate, and Camstar is a mission-critical system that makes it possible for all of our high volume manufacturing processes to be flexible, fast and accurate. We knew we needed MES in place to ensure control, efficiency and visibility before transitioning from R&D mode to production."

"Camstar showed true partnership through the entire implementation process by delivering everything they said they would," continued Barbari. "Camstar is living up to its great reputation in terms of commitment, integrity, ease of implementation and value received."

Phononic deployed Camstar for the first site in just ten weeks. Per plan, the company is standardizing on Camstar's MES across all its manufacturing operations "“ fabrication, component assembly, module and system build, and testing "“ to optimize the use of resources, manage change, communicate and enforce changes and best practices, and respond to issues before they become product problems.

"Semiconductor manufacturers' success or failure will be determined by global access to all manufacturing information "“ quickly, accurately, and for every decision point in the supply chain," said Steve Reynolds, Sr. Vice President for Camstar. "Innovators like Phononic are making a deliberate investment in Camstar's modern manufacturing solutions that support the new, extraordinary speed of change."
