Tokyo Electron Miyagi Ships 5,000th Etch Process Chamber

Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL) has announced that its manufacturing subsidiary Tokyo Electron Miyagi Limited has shipped its 5,000th etch process chamber.

Tokyo Electron Miyagi operates a state-of-the-art plant adopting the flow production method to assemble semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Ever since the completion of the construction in October 2011, the plant has adopted an integrated production approach to streamline every process from development through manufacturing, delivering globally competitive high-value-added products in response to innovations in semiconductor technology and increasingly sophisticated customer demand. The plant produces advanced etch systems, which are becoming more important as miniaturization continues and new semiconductor structures are introduced. It is a promising area where significant market growth is expected. For this reason, etch systems are positioned among TEL's strategic products in its medium-term management plan.

"We are pleased to be able to ship our 5,000th etch process chamber in this milestone year marking the plant's fifth anniversary," said Tokyo Electron Miyagi Representative Director & President Hiromichi Ito. "I would like to thank our customers, suppliers, and people in Taiwa-cho and the rest of Miyagi Prefecture for their valuable support. We will continue to produce high-quality, high-value-added products that answer the market's needs."

TEL will keep on redefining manufacturing through its cutting-edge plants, aiming to maximize their production efficiency and to reduce the environmental burdens in their operations.
