Adam White, Division President Power & Sensor Systems at Infineon Technologies, discusses the role that the semiconductor industry has to play in terms of both enabling the development of more energy efficient and sustainable technology innovations across a range of industry sectors, as well reducing its own carbon footprint through the increased use of renewable energy. He shares his knowledge on wide band gap materials like silicon carbide and gallium nitride as next-generation materials when it comes to energy efficiency in semiconductors, with Infineon deploying both these and ‘traditional’ silicon-based solutions for a whole range of power-related applications.
